Something for the songwriters

Here’s the deal:

My team and I receive dozens of messages via email and direct message from songwriters hoping to share their songs with us.

While we appreciate the courage it takes to put yourself out there, most of these messages miss the mark and doesn’t help the sender make their point or reach their goal.

Sometimes they are just links, like this one:

When we see this, we wonder if it’s spam or a cyber attack. There’s zero information about the purpose of the message or the person sending it.

Here’s another example:

While we somewhat have a clue of what’s going on, the information can definitely be communicated with more professionalism and clarity.

That’s why we created the Songwriter Submission Guide. Here’s a first look at the training and its components:

In addition to best practices, you will receive a song submission template that you can customize for your song(s) as well as customizable templates for emails and direct messages. You’ll also receive instructions on how to write your songwriter biography.

If you are an Ataca Sergio Music House Member, you automatically have access to this training as part of your membership.

You can access the training (as well as all of the other masterclasses and resources) here:

FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY: If you are not a member of Ataca Sergio Music House and you want to access this training, you may purchase access here:

Your work is too important to get lost in your message and formatting. While we can’t guarantee your success, we can guarantee that you will communicate with clarity and professionalism so that the recipient of your message understands its purpose.

Try it out and let us know what questions you have.

Ataca Sergio Music House is waiting for you

Real talk:

However, it doesn’t work that way. Oftentimes the fastest way to complete the process is to simply go through it, instead of trying to find shortcuts.

Let’s be clear: no one can promise or guarantee you success. Not even me.

There is a divine intelligence that guides your life and prepares you for your path.

The work is part of the process. Figuring it out is part of the process. The challenges are there to make you stronger and to show you how capable you are.

Always remember that the process prepares you for the success that you desire. You can’t rush the process, try as you might.

The truth is that you’re probably not ready for the success you dream of. You are focusing on the end result, but you may not realize just how much work goes into making it happen.

For example, you may dream of selling out Madison Square Garden.

But the truth is, if someone were to offer you the gig right now, you’d realize very quickly that you’re not ready. You might not have a set list, band, team or the showmanship needed to pull off a show of this magnitude. Also, your current following might not be big enough to sell out the stadium yet.

Turns out that the process lays the groundwork for your success – the small-time gigs you’re playing now play a big role in preparing you for the big ones.

Ataca Sergio Music House is here for you. I believe in this membership program and I believe in music creatives.

It is such an honor to help you reach your highest potential by giving you access to the wisdom, experiences, best practices that have helped me to thrive for more than 40 years.

I wish you every success and I look forward to having you in the program.

See you soon,

I’ve got serious questions for you

Moment of total honesty:

Will you be able to look at yourself in the mirror and say that you’ve done the best you can to live your purpose and to share your music with the world?

The truth is that it’s all up to you.

I’ll tell you something about the journey – it never turns out exactly the way you plan AND it’s still important to plan. Things may not turn out as you had hoped, but you still need to make the effort.

The worst thing to do when you have big dreams is to do nothing at all.

Remember that your dreams are from the Creator. As you walk your path, you receive feedback, learning, guidance, and inspiration that cause you to evolve. Over time, you may find that your dreams evolve, too. That’s okay. It’s all part of the process.

But you owe it to yourself to give it a shot and to set yourself up for success.

They say when the student is ready, the teacher appears.

I created Ataca Sergio Music House to give to the new generation of music creatives what I didn’t have as I came up in the music industry: mentorship, encouragement and access to knowledge. Each month you get access to the Ataca Sergio Music House masterclass library, a brand new monthly masterclass and live Q&A session where you can ask me questions about the new material. You also get access to the Music House community so that you can network with other music creatives.

Here’s the truth: no one can guarantee your success, not even me.

However, what I can say is that when you invest in yourself, believe in what you’re up to and take consistent action every single day, you will see yourself evolve into the person who has made their dreams come true.

I’m so excited about this program and I hope you’ll join me on this journey.

Let me tell you a story

I can tell you he had a lot of negativity around him. We started doing tracks and every step of the way, we heard, “Oh, that’s not salsa music,” from the naysayers.

Because I was already trained a little bit by the business to handle negativity, I told him, “Marc, forget about that. Let’s move forward. I believe in you.”

(Sometimes it takes someone seeing your potential and believing in your talent to help you reach your biggest dreams.)

We continued to work and still received a lot of pushback about his sound. The industry was intimidated and other singers were scared of the sound we were developing. Why? Because it had never been done before.

Once the project was released, the fans started understanding and falling in love with his music. Then the world started to see what I saw from the beginning.

One thing you have to understand is that people will more than likely not be happy about your success, especially in the music business. They see you as a threat.

However, you must persist.

That’s what we did. We kept going. We finished when nobody believed in us.

A funny thing happened as we were preparing to mix the record. My assistant was carrying the tapes.

(At that time, it was 2 inch tapes. Thank God for technology, right?)

It was raining that day and you can probably guess what happened.

My assistant dropped the box with all of the tapes. They started rolling down 42nd street … in the rain.

Here we are, after nine months of recording, and there go the tapes rolling down 42nd street and they got wet. I didn’t have a copy, either.

It was as if negative forces were conspiring to keep us down. I said to myself, “Man, if this record didn’t just get erased in the rain, it’s going to be a freakin’ hit.”

That’s exactly what happened. We salvaged the tapes and the rest, as they say, is history.

What is the lesson here?

If you’ve been working towards your dreams and you’ve got a lot of negativity surrounding you, it probably means that you’re close. You have to understand that negativity is going to be present. When there’s even more pressure than you think you can bear, you are close to your breakthrough.

Don’t stop.

I share this story and more in Activate Your Aura, the very first masterclass I created for Ataca Sergio Music House.

Why do we start our Music House journey talking about aura?

Because what you emit, you attract. If you don’t have a solid foundation and mindset, you will either never reach your goals OR if you do, you won’t be able to handle the success you’re dreaming of.

I’d love to see you inside the program.

Are you ready to level up?

Dreams are beautiful.

They spark joy, give us hope and a desire to act. This alone can give us a reason to keep going. Dreaming makes us believe that the future can be better than the reality we are living now.

Where people get mixed up is they think that’s all there is to it. They don’t realize there’s more that needs to happen to make a dream actually come true.

Just as I mentioned in Your Music Business Roadmap, you have to consistently emit a positive aura to attract the people, opportunities and resource aligned with where you want to be.

That’s only part of it, though.

You also have to take consistent action day in and day out towards the life of your dreams. Old ways won’t open new doors, so you can’t do the same thing every day and expect different results. You have to do something new.

But what exactly is that?

I receive thousands of DMs on social media asking me this exact same thing. Because of the amount of messages I’ve gotten, I started to think about how I could be of service to all of these talented people from all over the world.

How can I help music creatives and professionals eager to learn and implement the knowledge that it’s taken me over four decades to acquire?

That’s how my music education program, Ataca Sergio Music House, came about. At this point in my career, a huge priority of mine is to give back to the new generation of music.

Coming up in this business, there was no one there to guide me. Everything I learned was through the school of hard knocks and trial + error. Believe me, it’s been a lot. I not only survived, but I’m still here and I’m thriving.

So it feels really good to open the doors to Music House to you, so that you can learn from my experience and what I’ve seen from others’ experience in this industry.

I hope to see you inside the program.

No one is you and that is your power

You are powerful.

There is no one in the entire universe with your specific set of skills, talents, passions, interests and experiences. Even if at times you question yourself or you wonder if you even have gifts, I can assure you that you do. Maybe you just haven’t realized what they are yet.

What a shame it would be to go through life comparing yourself to someone else just because your brilliance doesn’t look like theirs. It’s not supposed to.

You’re here to run your own race, to live your own journey.

Yes, you will make mistakes. Yes, it won’t all be perfect. But if you will continue to use your gifts to be of service to others, you will find your way. You’ll come to understand that what you bring to the world is unique and deserves to be shared.

Keep going.

Success always leaves clues

When you get around successful people, you realize that there is an energy about them. It radiates from them in an almost palpable way. We call this aura. This energy attracts to them everything they need to help them create the life of their dreams. It’s magnetic.

In a sense, life is a mental game where what what you see on the outside is a reflection of what’s on the inside. Many people make the mistake of focusing on the exterior without realizing that their true power is always internal.

If you don’t know how to maneuver your energy, always remember that success leaves clues.

You can study what other people have done, how they approach people and situations and who they are “being” in any given moment. Please remember that it’s never about what you’re “doing” but rather who you’re “being.”

I’ll be sharing all about this concept (which truly is the secret to my success) in my first Music House masterclass, Activate Your Aura. I actually recorded it two weekends ago at one of my favorite recording studios in Miami, Alacrán Studios. (Check them out here.) My team is currently knee deep in editing, so be on the lookout for updates.

I definitely want you to check it out.

There is a divine intelligence that radiates through everything on the planet. When you align with it, you understand that how changing your mindset shifts everything in your 3D reality.

Take a moment to think about the people whose success you admire:

What is their energy? How do they approach their life, their work, their relationships? How do they maintain their connection to divine intelligence? How do they stay focused in a world filled with distractions?

This is a great starting point to understanding how you can take advantage of the universal principle of “As within, so without.”

I believe in you.

P/S I’ve had the blessing of working with some amazingly talented people lately:

  • La Puerta, the first single from my upcoming album, Ataca Sergio: Urban Salsa Sessions, has reached 1MM views. Check it out here.
  • Karol G asked me to produce the salsa version of her smash hit, Amargura, which she performed at the Billboard Women in Music Awards (where she was honored as Woman of The Year – Way to go, Bichota!). You can check out the performance here.
  • M.Roca, a new salsero from Argentina that I’m working with, released his second single, Agua Brava. Here it is for you to view.

I am so grateful for your support as we usher in this new era of salsa music.

The #1 Mistake You Are Making With Your Mindset

Life is all about the stories you tell yourself. You take facts and you create a narrative according to your beliefs and experiences. The story you’ve created then plays a big part in how you interpret everything and how you navigate your life.

This is where your true power lies – you have to tell yourself the most powerful story about your circumstances as possible.

For example, you aren’t failing – you’re simply in the middle of conquering. It’s all about how you choose to look at things that make all the difference.

Yet the one mistake I see people making time and again is obsessing over all of the things that are out of their control. By focusing so much on much on the situations arising in their lives or other people not behaving the way they’d like, they give away their power. They begin to tell a story where life happens to them instead of them sitting in the driver’s seat of their lives, choosing where they want to go. It doesn’t feel good and definitely doesn’t feel powerful.

So this week I want you to take your power back. Get really clear on the stories you’re telling yourself about what’s going on in your life. If you don’t like how the stories feel, rewrite them.

What does this look like?

You’re here to do great things. However, if you’re telling yourself a story of defeat in your mind, you won’t ever transform your potential into your reality. Take back your power.

I believe in you.

The Truth About Success in the Music Industry

Here’s the truth about success in the music industry:

You can have all of the money, resources, connections, at your disposal, but if you have poor mindset, it does not matter. You will either not achieve the level of success you desire OR if you do you might not be happy even though you’ve got the world in the palm of your hands.

People think that these things are the key to your success, but I’m gonna let you in on a little secret — they don’t matter as much as a winning mindset.

True success always begins in your mind – with the thoughts you’re thinking, the actions you’re taking and the life you’re living. Before you ever see the change you want on the outside, you’ve got to already be living it on the inside.

It sounds really simple. But simple does NOT mean easy, especially if the reality you’re currently living is very different from the one you dream of. It can be downright hard if all you see is negativity.

You’ve got to train your mind to focus on what you’re creating and not the reality you’re living. Once you get this under control, the outside reality will match the one inside.

Now it’s your turn. I want to know more about you. Please complete this survey. It takes 15-20 minutes. The more details you can give me, the more I can help you achieve your goals.

You’ve got this.
